The Eyes That Shine a Poison Light

OOC Thread

It was a regular summer day in the town of Treedell like any other.  The Lumber Jacks and Lumber Janes got ready to head out for a day of logging as the local restaurant started planning out the meals that would be ready for them when they came back.  Children played in the street as birds chirped in the trees.  It was peaceful, and the town guard was trying his hardest not to just take a nap.  when suddenly he got a bad feeling deep inside his stomach.  Far in the distance was some sort of black speck with a bright light at its center.  It was clearly moving remarkably fast as the speck was growing more and more.  Suddenly concerned, the guard pulled out his telescope to see what was barreling south down the road.  What he saw almost made him recoil on instinct.

It was a horrible lanky thing.  it's flesh was red and rotten, it's long limbs moved at an unnatural speed like a spider that had fused its legs into pairs.  The head looked like that of the dried corpse the guard once saw when he was a boy, but this one had massive fang like mandibles protruding from its jaw and Searing white lights in place of eyes.  immediately, the guard had to look away as the light burned his own eye through the telescope.  He looked back at the thing, he saw that it had gotten far closer in just the past couple moments, and that the land behind it had gone from a gentle green to a sickening brown.

The guard ran into the guardhouse and alerted the rest who closed the gate and tried to start and evacuation as the creature's stampeding drew closer and closer to the town.  Before the town folk could even begin running away, the gates blew open with a tremendous force.  Standing in the blasted log gate, was a towering Giant with glowing white eyes and wrinkly red skin.  The townsfolk new not what this thing was, but it was .  Kahd'Xel Yedapher, a demon prince from before even their legends could recall.  It was a being that saw these people with lives and families as little more than objects of contempt and hunger.  The Demon Prince let out a deafening scream unlike anything that any living creature would wish to hear even as an alternative to death.  the minds of people were shattered along with their eardrums as the sound drowned out the screams of those in response

Those that saw the glowing eyes of the demon soon doubled over in pain as the poisonous light seeped through their skin.  The guards still held spears to the beast out of either bravery or paralyzing fear as blood dripped down their destroyed ears.  Kahd'Xel merely picked them like cloth dolls and devoured them at an industrial speed.  The fang like mandibles crushed the bodies as the jagged teeth shredded them.  The demon clearly cared little for the guards' blood as it sprayed all over the ground.  The five guards were eaten in a manner of seconds, and if nothing is done, so to will everyone else.

The demon continued its Feasting on the helpless villagers, writhing in pain on the blood soaked ground.  The creature was meticulous and efficient, crushing the bones and then shredding the flesh of those that it ate.

The blood sprayed across the buildings and roads degraded and corrupted whatever it touched.  The town was slowly turning into a garden of vile fungus and rancid death.  Those that still had some degree of their wits about them either ran for the eastern gate or hid in their homes, praying that the Demon would not find and eat them.

Kahd'Xel showed no sign of stopping, devouring 20 more villagers and bringing the count up to 25

The villagers that sought to escape through the eastern gate ran faster than most of them even knew they could run.  the five guards stationed there were desperately trying to open the heavy wooden doors as quickly as possible.  The doors were struck with a tide of fleeing people that tripped and trampled over one another without hesitation.  The screams of their friends and family felt muffled because of how deafening the demon's scream had been.

Before the pile of traumatized tinnitus victims could begin dispersing however, the ground shook as the demon lept high into the air.  The ground shook again shortly after when the demon landed.  although, this impact was somewhat gentler, as the demon landed on the giant pile of villagers, splattering those that didn't want to climb over their friends and loved ones with the gore of their friends and loved ones.   Not a single villager ran from this, as the experience had proved too much physically and emotionally, as the demon devoured the whole lot of them.

Kahd'Xel has consumed effectively 60 more villagers, the total is currently 85.  there are 35 villagers in the gore pile and splash zone that are still being devoured.

Aethelcília scrambled breathlessly atop a knoll that overlooked the small settlement, her eyes wide, watching the carnage. A small gasp left her, and then a low growl, followed by several vulgar curses. Disgust, apprehension, confusion, and then anger, roiled through her one by one until they all broiled in the cauldron. That stew culminated in a dish called determination, as she set her back and her training kicked in. She had been trained for people, for war, for soldiering. There was mention of magic, and of beasts, sure, but not like this. Her experience in Ignatz helped some, but those too were just evil in human shell. This was something different altogether, and she did not have the experience necessary to form a good plan. She would soon be accompanied by other agents, contractors, and otherwise, but for now she needed a direct response. Those people were dying, and she was in the business of an industry that stopped that action with imperial might. Dying was illegal-

And demons were felonies.

So she straightened her back, and huffed out one last breath of uncertainty. With that, her anxiety left her, it was replaced with steel and determination. The soldier then drew her warbow, it was carved with sigils and runic carvings all along its length. It was much larger than a normal issue bow, and the string was red. The bracers she wore on either forearm also bore these sigils, and they began to glow. In short time, the bow and its string were glowing a fierce golden-green hue. She drew three arrows from her quiver, and focused her gaze to the demon.

Her eyes flicked above, to the sky. She made a few short calculations. The distance was 350 yards. 'I've made that before.' She affirmed. The wind was mild, peaceful, and perfect for killing in the name of Gaia. 'Bless my deliverance, and issue me yer grace, oh Gaia.'

She mumbled the prayer aloud in tandem, and the arrows began to glow the same light as bow and bracers. They were thrumming now, resonating on the same harmonic, holy frequency. She nocked the first arrow, and drew to her ear. Her back straightened. It was the portrait of a small woman, bound in leathers and gentle features, drawing a yew-bow of war against the backdrop of sun and green Gaian gifts. A bard would drool, and poets would dream. It is unfortunate, then, that she said what she said next.

"Fuck you."

And the first arrow flew. There was a BOOM and shock wave that blew grass away from her feet in a small two foot radius around her. The shock wave followed the arrow laden with semi-holy and druidic energies in a green-gold cone in it's wake.

BOOM

BOOM

The two other arrows were nocked, then fired. They did not fly in arcs, rather like a cannon at short range, they flew in a straight, inexorable line. Lest the demon moved, it would be struck by arrows that would normally tear through cobblestone like mud, and whose kinetic force generally blow away basic sediment in a small circle upon impact.

A villager watched in horror as his friends and family were eaten from about thirty meters away, he begged to the gods that this was the end of his life as he watched in horror. All of a sudden there was a crash behind him, a white suit of armour crash-landed into the area behind him leaving behind a small crater in their wake, standing up from the crater they made, they looked over in the direction, the warnings on their screen showed "High Radiation levels detected". They sighed and looked over at the human, standing there now in even more shock at the fact there was an armoured being that crash-landed in the vicinity of the demon.

The armored being sighed. "Leave at once, this area is dangerous." The being said, as the man ran off. The armored being, looking over at the demon, smirked from under their helmet.

"By authority of the Terrenus Military, I, Stormbreaker will end you personally demon..."

The being known as Stormbreaker was a terrenus military contractor but held deep regard for saving others and had a no kill rule mainly, but this was different, as she looked over at a group of civilains hidden in the nearby distance, Stormbreaker shouted out to them, giving them a simple order. "Evacuate everybody you can! I'll deal with it this piece of shit here!"

She barked as the civilians began to leave the area, leaving Stormbreaker to herself until she noticed an archer nearby firing arrows at the demon. She didn't know what type of arrows, but this demon was dangerous and still had civilains on him, with her explosive flames, she blasted in the air around the demon, making sure she had enough room away from it to do enough damage as well as obviously making sure there was no civilains in her vicinity, going to eventually stop, holding herself up in the air by fire coming off her feet, creating enough draft to lift her upwards. Leaving no seconds to spare, Stormbreaker compressed her flames into a small ball, launching it at the back of the demon, which would cause the attack to cause a small explosion on impact.

TL; DR
Stormbreaker appears, introduces herself. Gets the remaining civilians to evacuate the area.

Bounces up into the air using explosions created by her explosive fire, and circles the demon to find a good spot to attack as well as keep a good distance away.

She then keeps away for a bit, stopping in place, surrounding herself with enough fire to keep her in the sky, and fires a small ball of fire that would create a smol explosion on impact.

Death, destruction and chaos are but another part of the vicious world we live in. As such it came as no surprise to Gozen that something like this would happen. Ever since he arrived on Valucre, he’s witnessed one chaotic event after another. Whether it was a being that saw itself as being equal to a god and cause mass genocide, or a demon seeing other creatures as nothing more than food. None of it could surprise him. But the one thing that really made him mad was that all of this was a norm in this world. He wasn’t one of those delusional fools who believed in the concept of world peace, no, he was nothing other than just another guy who hated the madness of the world.

From the distance a dragon, as black as night, beat its wings against the air as it approached the scene of the carnage. While still high above the ground, its body was engulfed by flames which disappeared shortly after revealing a boy. As soon as he let go of his dragon form, he came down crashing to the ground quite violently. “Geez. It’s still a big pain” he said as he got to his feet. “Well, it’s still the best way to move about” he finished. He analyzed the situation to see how it was going, shifting his eyes from one corner to another. He noticed the arrows, raining onto the creature from one of the ladies who had come to engage it. The other lady was airborne and shooting a fireball at the creature. As for the villagers, let’s just say there was widespread panic.

Gozen prepared himself to engage the creature as well. The thought of talking with it crossed his mind, but to be honest, he didn’t feel like it. So he went with the next best alternative, and engaged it. Taking the villagers into consideration, Gozen could not fire a large scale attack as he was used to, so he settled with one of his weaker ones. He spewed out fire from his hands and used it to forge a burning bow. He then made an arrow which he aimed at the demon’s left leg before firing. His flames might not have been able to explode, but the one he used in making the arrow was hotter than normal flames and most importantly, it was solid, making the arrow deadlier than any normal arrow.

Kahd'Xel sat upon his throne of gore stuffing his insectoid mouth with anything still alive in the pile.  The Demon was enraptured by the first feast that he had had in millennium.  He paid little heed to the mortals scurrying about, Their weapons had so far proven flimsy, and their wills weak.

The beast was suddenly alerted, however, by three loud booms from a nearby knoll.  Kahd'Xel twisted his body to avoid the speeding missiles, but the third struck him in the thigh.  long pale worms squirmed out of the shallow wound, dropping onto the pile or withering from the holy power.  The Demon knew this pain, it was one that had stung Kahd'Xel countless times since he had came into being.  He let out another otherworldly scream that shattered windows and shook the ground, that Morphed into a call of absolute hate and contempt.  His eyes shining brighter than before.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

As the he yelled he pulled the arrow from his leg with one hand while digging into the gore pile with the other.  horrifying insects squirmed out of the open wound as more pale worms poked through the skin and sewed it shut with their bodies before melding back into the crimson flesh.  Kahd'Xel lifted a large ball of corpses that were morphing into a single indescribable abomination.  This horrid thing was thrown with a great force at the knoll where Aethelcília was making her assault.  The abomination sprouted leather wings and eclectic eyes as it sailed through the air and angled itself to strike closest to Aethelcília as it could manage.

Kahd'Xel began scurrying towards a large building to use as cover, taking note of the dragon and golem that had just arrived.  He trampled over a couple of collapsed villagers and avoided any solid hits from the incoming fire, before plowing straight through the wall of the building.  This building was the local restaurant, and Kahd'Xel had entered straight through the kitchen, where the chefs were cowering with some other villagers among the ingredients.  Kahd'Xel desired to eat the villagers here and now, but deicded that their bodies and souls could serve a much better purpose.  A putrid cloud sprayed out of the demon's mouth and covered his victims, instantly the 6 people began to undergo painful transformations.  Their bodies twisted into cruel mockeries of themselves as they became overwhelmed by an extreme hunger.  They began desperately biting into the raw meat around them as fuel for their new forms.  Five of them were well on the way to becoming insect-like horrors, fused to vestigial evidence of their humanity.  the sixth was the head cheff, a portly fellow who was now a bloated fungus creature with a reanimated skinned pig for an arm.

outside, intsects and worms were emerging from the gore pile, puppeting sewed together bodyparts from multiple corpses or seeking out more victims in the surrounding area.  Finally, large fungus had begun growing around the north gate and showed no signs of stopping.

[OOC]

There is now:  one greater horror, that is flying towards Aethelcília, seventeen lesser abominations emerging from the corpse pile to engage Gozen and Stormbreaker, a number of stitch worms and puppeteer bugs seeking out more victims and five insect horrors and one fungal horror forming in the kitchen.  The north gate is becoming overgrown with giant fungus.  Kahd'Xel has taken cover in the local restaurant with minimal injuries and has done another Scream attack that would affect Gozen and Stormbreaker fully, and affect Aethelcília at a much lower potency.  Additionally, Gozen and Stormbreaker are within range of the radiation eyes

Kahd'Xel was able to eat 5 more villagers before needing to stop and had to repurpose 22 of the living gore pile victims were used to make the horror and abomination so there are still 8 people technically alive in the pile.   the six that were horrerfied are no longer edible.  so, there are 90 devoured, 28 lost but not edible, 32 incapacitated by radiation or otherwise, and 50 that are split between hiding inside either inside or outside.

I hope you guys don't mind how long this post was.  Its three on one so I have to do stuff to even out the action economy and set things up for a battle to unfold.

### Aspyn; before

"I have something for you."

The nature of his work as a member of the earth had Yates range across the face of the nation. Which is to say as both one of a species which returned to the earth on expiration and one of a clergy which sanctified, not earth or even life to their own ends but the cause of these things.

Yates and Aethelcília had never met before. Were, in fact, meeting for the very first time when Yates turned a corner into Aspyn's Recreation Center and addressed her out of a crowd with those five simple words, as if the vast, complex workings of the cosmic machine churned and brought them to this moment; would churn again and take them away before too long.

"Two somethings actually."

Aeth was a devout. To a layman Yates was no more and no less than a Gaian priest. To Aeth's trained ranger's eyes, to her fine sieve of a mind, the irrelevant fell away and while the germane stood out in greater detail. She could identify his station by the nuance of the symbol stamped onto his robes and knew the man to be an Oracle, even if she didn't know his name.

His right hand remained behind his back, his left hand extended a string from which depended three orb-like censers. "It's like tear gas, but not. Take it with you when you go to Treedell."

Then Yates brought out his right hand. He kept it closed into a fist, suggesting with his face and body posture that this item justified a faint air of secrecy. When he opened his fist the hand was, of course, empty. He touched the empty palm to her forehead and whispered his simple blessing: "Go with Gaia, sister. While you walk Her path, She will lend you Her strength."

### Aspyn; before

Aethelcília was breathing, unfortunately. Running seemed to always make her wish that she wasn't. Running was all well and good and fun while one was actually running, but then comes the stumbling slow down, and that horrible sucking hot pain in your lungs that get's worse when you move but doesn't get any better when you stand still. More cardio was the only cure. 'But death is a very tasty alternative. Don't need to run if yer dead Cília.'

The spry-

The sweat soaked, haggard young woman, placed her hands on her hips. She placed more weight on her left leg, straightened her back, and huffed a painful breath as she looked to the ceiling of the rec center. 'Can't rest too long girl, the pain's already fading.' She chastised herself, shaking her head, and preparing for her next lap set. But, before she had finished her rest, and still breathing hard, a voice called out to her. Not by name, but it was definitely to her.

"I have something for you."

The raven haired woman squinted in the direction of the voice. She began to retort with disinterest, annoyed that yet another old fogey had come to catcall her. But her instincts, her senses, quickly corrected her. This was not a catcall, and the old fellow was not another old fogey. Her eagle eyes flicked, dashed, and darted, across his form in an instant. And in that same instant, she understood. Her frown deepened, and her brow furrowed. 'Grace, not woe, Gaia, please.'

"It's like tear gas, but not. Take it with you when you go to Treedell."

Then, the old man reached into his robe, and bestowed his gifts. She eyed them warily, but sensed the aura of her faith, and so she took them. When she heard the description, somehow, she became more skeptical than before. She had no time to voice this, though, as the old man beckoned her in, bent low in secrecy. Unveiling his fist revealed nothing but more annoyance from Cília, to which she responded by opening her mouth slightly to protest. And again, interrupted as always, he bopped his palm to her head. She blinked, her eyes flashing between him, the floor, his hand, and attempting in vain to look at her own forehead. She touched her head, briefly, as if detecting a stain.

"Go with Gaia, sister. While you walk Her path, She will lend you Her strength."

She straightened, slightly, and nodded slowly. After a short while of her standing there, confused, and apparently blessed by fate, she realized she had left while she was still dazed.

"What's a Treedell?"

"Damn you, Treedell."

A screeching, horrid, stinking, mass of humans formed into an abominable stain upon Gaia's great boon streaked towards the former safety of Aethelcília's knoll. The giant leathery winged thing looked much like an overgrown bat, with human parts and eyes, with bony definitions. A veritable terrorgheist, a demon in it's own right. And it flew dead-on for Aeth.

Her trained eyes found this hideous brown stain, and the distance between her, and it. She did not like the number she found, nor did she like how steadily it was decreasing. Finding her will wavering for a moment, she attempted to steel her mind and find the path forward. It, as ever, lay in the earth, and it's mother. 'One shot, then backstep. It'll hit the hill. So that's one with the arrow, one with the axe. That's all the chances I've got.' So she murmured another quick prayer, and her weapons lit up once more.

BOOM!

An arrow tore a flight path straight on to the hurtling abomination, aimed dead center mass. As soon as the arrow left the string, she slung the bow over her back, criss-crossing her quiver. Then, she bolted in the opposite direction, so that when the giant spinning human shaped turd hit the hill it did not hit her too. She dove into the cover of trees, creating a physical separator beyond just the distance her quick dash had put between them. She spun back around, a determined fury in her eyes. In her right hand she held a foresters axe, glowing bright green and gold. There were carvings all along its length, and even runes imbued upon it's metal head. "Aye, Gaia, I ask for the resilience of the roots. I ask for the strength of the timber, of the oak. I ask for the strength to weather your storm."

The glow flashed once, a culmination of quickly built light, and then settled into a powerful but contained radiant outline. The Axe hummed, and pulsated now, and so did the bracers on her arms [1]. Her eyes burned a different shade, and when she moved quick enough in the shade of the trees, those eyes left golden streaks. When the beast crashed upon the hill, or otherwise came to a rest, she would do her best to avoid this impact. And then, when she had avoided this impact, would watch carefully for it's movement.

Stormbreaker stood and watched in horror as the demon took her attack head-on and then retreated into the restaurant. She then watched as the demon then attacked by screaming, which distracted her slightly and distorted her momentum in the air, causing her to lose control on her flames, crashing to the ground for a brief second, luckily she wasn't hurt, but her ears were slightly sore for the time being, even when the armour itself had some soundproofing. Just then, she noticed the demon had created some abominations out of the corpses, which she had gotten up to fight, fire surrounding her both her arms as she watched them and fired small blasts of regular old fire this time at them, watching her range of the civilans and checking her fire to make sure they weren't in the crossfire.

Once she did that, she went to go enhance her speed and strength around her body, using electricity in her body, making her faster and much stronger physically than before.

(Non named active power turned passive: Electricity enhanced speed and strength slightly by a small fraction past her limits. Can increase to only 20% cause of her power limiter.)

The demon had escaped after taking the attacks from the group and ran off to a nearby restaurant, where it began to create abominations as hideous as itself. A group of those thought it possible to take down Gozen, but little did they know it was their end they were walking towards. Gozen noticed that these new creatures didn't have any human hostage like the big ugly one did, and so guessed it wouldn't be a problem if he hit them at full forced.

"Well seems like I don't have to hold back anymore"

It was then that his fists turned as black as the moonless night, and was then engulfed in flames. He then rushed forward striking a punch at one of the lesser abominations. Just as his fist would be about to connect, the flames would burst forward with a heat enough to melt steel, and engulf the creature entirely. Gozen then spun as flames from his left hand formed a blazing spear. His gripped the spear with his right hand and slashed down at the second abomination tearing it diagonally from the right shoulder to the left of its waist. To be certain the creature doesn't do some regenerating, he spun the spear around again, bringing it down in through the left shoulder. The only difference was that this time, the spear was left in its chest as Gozen jumped backwards making the spear's flames explode outward consuming the creature.

The Holy arrow struck the greater horror with a mighty force.  This force diverted the screaming monstrosity as it slammed into the ground a couple of feet short of where Aethelcília  had just been.  smoke bellowed from the creature's core as the flesh bubbled around the embedded arrow.  The arrow fell to the ground with a clump of bubbling goo.  It was quite clear that far more damage had been done by the holy power than both the impact and landing combined.  Never the less, the voices of four innocent people called out in unspeakable agony as the pile of rancid flesh charged towards Aethelcília on a myriad of haphazard legs.  a number of tendrils emerged from the mass and opened to reveal seven toothy mouths desperate to feast on new flesh.  a larger mouth was forming on the main body, but the bubbling wound was unresponsive and the mouth was only half formed.

The abomination that Gozen attacked was little more than a burnt pile of bones and guts, its decimation had been so rapid that even the creatures puppeting the flesh were unable to scream out in pain.  The covering fire shot by Stormbreaker in turn, hit far more of the lesser horrors, but to a far smaller effect.  the insects controlling the stitched together bodies cared little of the blood-soaked hosts being mildly singed.  one horror, that was made of seven legs  and a old woman's head, was able to deftly dodge one of the flames.  These creatures charged towards the pair of relatively young dragons with unshakeable resolve as the stitch worms reinforced the joints and the puppeteer bugs got the hang of piloting reanimated corpses via trapped souls.  Likewise, the host of unmounted stitch worms and puppeteer bugs had begun rounding up the collapsed humans in the surrounding area to begin constructing more abominations.  the victims unable to even scream out in pain as their flesh began melding with that of their neighbors.

three abominations flailed at Stormbreaker as two charged suicidally into Gozen's fiery body.  They intended to strike their targets with no regard for self preservation, these attacks would strike with the force to break their bones upon their enemies.  or at least, the bones of their cobbled together corpse suits.  simultaneously, the roof of the resturaunt burst open as Kahd'Xel lept and landed nearby the two brave heroes, and squashing one of his abominations in the process.

"Miserable spawn of winged newts, Your childish embers are nothing to the light of truth!"                                                                                     "You shall perish here and aid my crusade!"

"Muwyrikdy weisl ao sulqyv lyszw, hafr tmudvuwm ypkyrw vory lazmulq za zmy duqmz ao zrfzm!" The Demon said with its ensemble of jaws.  "Haf wmidd eyruwm myry vorv iuv ph trfwivy!"  with that, Kahd'Xel bellowed a great cloud of toxic fumes that covered the area and obscured vision, He then struck with his tree like arms at Gozen, so as to strike him even if he dodged the abominations.

Also through the deadly cloud came the loud buzzing and assorted cutlery of the Five insect horrors.  Who assaulted Stormbreaker with murderous fervor, and whose humanity was little more than tattered clothing and the occasional vestigial finger.  The Fungal horror had yet to join the melee, either out of strategy or simply lagging behind.

OOC: The greater horror has taken noticeable damage but charges at Aethelcília with its ravenous mouth stalks.

Gozen has slain a lesser abomination but is now caught in a poisonous cloud with two lesser abominations trying to body slam him and Kahd'Xel about to strike him with his clawed hand.  Gozen is within the effective range of Kahd'Xel's eyes

Stormbreaker was able to damage four lesser abominations but missed a fifth, the damage is superficial since no damage came to the puppeteer bugs.  Stormbreaker is also caught in the poison cloud and is being swung at by three lesser abominations and all five insect horrors who are attacking with knives, skewers, and meat hooks.  Stormbreaker is also within range of Kahd'Xel's eyes

the fungal horror has yet to reveal itself.  the swarm of unmounted stitch worms and puppeteer bugs are amassing the bodies of three incapacitated villagers and have begun melding them into a more powerful abomination.  Thus, the current count is 90 devoured, 31 lost but not eddible, 29 incapacitated, and 50 who are still hiding.

villain team: 15 lesser abominations (3 near Stormbreaker, 2 near Gozen, 10 in transit), 1 Greater horror (attacking Aethelcília), 1 ??? abomination (being created by the bug squad), 5 insect horrors (attacking Stormbreaker), 1 fungal horror (somewhere), and 1 Kahd'Xel (attacking Gozen)

Aethelcília stood prepared, her luminescent eyes tracking the shrieking mutant's flight path. She rolled her axe in her hand once, then slapped it into the other, gripping it tightly with both hands. Nearly in the same same moment, the greater horror shamed the earth with an awful impact. 'More than a few yards off, good thing I moved. Gotta keep the errors in mind ne-' She frowned, and then winced, as the Horror began shrieking. The shrieks were awful, but the humanity of them was worse.

"Oh," She said, her eyes and hands softening slightly. But then the thing charged, her kindness a weakness it would devour. She took a stuttered step back, instantly infuriated with herself for the lapse in focus. Her plan had been to cut this demon-thing off at the pass, but it's evil had assaulted her, and found too much care for it's victims. But, 'It is too late now, dear Terrans.' The tragedy would only be extended with her death, no reprieve would come for their souls unless she brought it to them. She was no paladin, but the righteous fury found her all the same.

So she corrected her stutter step, and quickly assessed her new situation. Her comfortable advantage at range had been sourly removed, and this greedy miser sought still to remove what little remained between them and her beating heart. 'No head. Plenty of fuckin eyes, though.' Her eyes most heavily narrowed on the tendrils. She had no more time to plot, action would be required. She bunched her legs, bending slightly at the knees. Suddenly, the dirt kicked up in clumps behind her. It was as if she possessed violently explosive cleats, and the movement propelled her sidestep incredibly quickly. The movement was not light speed, nor even inconceivable, but the acceleration was immense.

The sidestep would be a sufficient enough perpendicular distance from the trajectory of the Horror to avoid it's direct charge. The movement shifted Aethel's weight to her outside leg, which she equalized into the other, and made another movement. As she did, she hafted the axe far closer to the head of it, and kept a distinctive eye upon the tendrils. Any time one would come close to her person, she would chop it much like the vines in the great Aspyn forest. The movement brought her forward, and past the Horror's left flank. Every step kicked up sod, and her speed would quickly bring her to the beasts rear in the space of a breath.

Landing after her dash, she spread her legs as if she were riding a horse, and with an unlady like grunt, swung the blade of her foresters axe into its rear. The Axe, and her bracers, glowed steadily with that same green-gold. Her hands slid down to the bottom of the axe, both meeting at the curved end of the shaft. The leverage looked far more like it was built to fell giants, than it was likely to kill men. [1]

If it missed, or if she was stopped before the rear, she would invite and bait tendril attacks, cauterizing their wounds with concentrations of her Woads.

Finally, irregardless of the outcome of her retaliations, she would bring her left bracer up to her mouth, and kiss it. A sprout of ethereal vines began growing from the wooden and golden bracer, they would form a small circle of growing energy and growth. She would then grip the axe with both hands again, with the small shield growing to encompass more and more of her front flank. [2]

[1]: Expended prep:  Woad of strength

  • bestows supernatural agility and might to the wearer and/or user

  • It's effect is expended into the prep gathered previously, greatly multiplying the force, and speed, of her (annotated) swing.

This is now a persistent effect, and will remain until such time as Aethelcília is incapacitated or exhausted beyond fighting capacity.

[2]: Gathered prep: Woad of protection

  • Improves the resilience and durability of inscribed items.

    • Can be invoked to procure a earthy-green shield with golden tinges. The larger it is the harder it becomes to maintain effectiveness

Combat Inventory:

1: 3x holy mist 'tear gas grenades'. AOE 15 feet. Slows and weakens unnaturals.

2: Crown of Courage. Unconscious trigger will activate only when in peril. Bolsters both strength and (zen, not reckless) courage on subject and proximate allies.

Stormbreaker's suddenly burst of speed was more than enough to dodge one of the abominations, easily jumping to the side with lightning crackling around her as suddenly used that speed to jump off the wall, crashing into one of them, using her speed and strength to attempt to punch a hole through one of them before going to deal with another and finally another one.

Now there was insect abominations attacking her, which to her response, was she stood to the side, a plasma-like blade coming out of the armor on her arm, which was made out of some sort of heavily reinforced blade that was useful to cut through enemies and items and used that to attempt to cut down the insects in her path. She swung at them with the force of a dragon, attempting to get them off her back and hopefully for good. It was at the same time that her armor suddenly detected poison gas and thankfully switched on the filters in her gas mask and respiration, allowing her to breath oxygen. Luckily her armor, was geared for environmental hazards for now, until it got damaged like hell, it counted for raditation damage as well, making it handy against enemies like this, question being how much can it hold on for?

"I think you're taking me too lightly" Gozen smirked as he readied his right arm. He then swung it forward throwing a punch towards the enemies that ran towards him, and yelling "Fire Fist!". This sent out a huge fist of flames which engulfed one the abominations and would burn it out before it could reach him. After this, he rapidly chained with a kick from his flaming right leg, at an angle to the second abomination's head. The forced put in the kick was strong enough to shatter a good number of consecutive set of bones. He finally ended with downpour of flames upon his opponent crisping it as well. However, these two weren't the only ones after his skin, a he now found himself facing the big boss, in the middle of a poison gas cloud. Before he could get his legs to touch the ground, he was hit hard by the giant demon's sweeping hand, and sent flying into a building through the wall. As he got hit, he ended up inhaling some of the poison gas after his gasp of pain.

A few moments later, he stepped out of the building with his hand on his mouth, blocking the blood he was coughing out. "This guy could be more trouble than I had expected" he said wiping away the rest of the blood from his face. A smirk then slowly ran across his face. "This oughta be fun"

Gozen was just as vulnerable to poison as a human could be, though his resistance to radiations was a bit upped due to the magical protection in his scales absorbing some of it. But this still didn't make him  completely protected from it as prolonged exposure in an intense field could bypass his scales absorption abilities. From the looks of it, it was very unlikely that Gozen would be able to take this thing down, but instead of scaring him, the fact rather made his blood boil more. From his back came out flames which looked like liquid wings, and with these wings, he took the ground into the air. As he stood ready to battle, his arms and legs, including the clothes on them, turned black and flames blazed over them. "Hey ugly! Show me what you got"
