Finding a Home. (invite only)

Recommended Posts

It was early evening, Dia was expecting two guests. One was definitely going to show. She needed his help finding some more property, or properties. The other, she wasn't positive. The invite was sent, but she was not so sure. There might have been a third as well... it would all depend. Dia sat patiently, in a VIP booth upstairs. Her best short party dress on. Showing off more of her ink than she usually did. A certain pink haired feline femme fatale, would approach, dressed in the servers uniform, the heels clicked on the nice tile floor. "Wait downstairs, the invite told those who are coming, to use a password." She said. "And... that is?" Ruby asked. "It's Paradiso" Dia said. "Help yourself to a drink, your not on the clock or anything" She added. "I... Don't Drink" the feline said and proceeded downstairs where the loud music and party goers all sort of blended together. Her own uniform was minus the devil tail, due to having her own, long and furry as it was. The song currently playing was some club mix, full of artists most of Valucre probably hadn't heard of.

Dia inhaled another drag off her fancy cigarette. John was definitely coming. She needed his help finding a parcel. It was time she built a house, found a man, settled down, had a few kids, lived the in house wife life... except she was only going to do one of those things. Build a house. It would definitely be built for a single bachelorette, who liked to party. She hadn't decided exactly what to do though... having a TV on in the bathroom so she could watch Buffy would be neat... but so would a massive pool... and so would a huge garage... she had to think... She also donned a girly primp set of heels, heels that screamed rob me because I can't fucking chase you in these slut shoes. But it was recommended that she doll up a tad... so she did. She didn't like it. And she'd definitely complain.

Thurgood seems to be building quite a few things lately: the city of New Everrun, Jiyuu's road system, the Copper Bell, their noble house manor in Inari, the Sinners Den, he's been getting quite a bit of experience as a general contractor. Fuck, he's already got the paperwork done to legally be one, as well as his Journeyman electrician license, might as well get some business cards printed and offer his contracting services to the public, and establish connections with tradespeople all over Valucre.

Thing is, Thurgood Albert Singlance is happiest when he's building something, but, as a famous scary chaotic insane clown once said, 'if you're good at something, never do it for free.'

So here he is, parking his pickup in the garage that's really hard to maneuver in a ton-and-a-half dualie, to go back to the club he just built built for another meeting to build something else.

As soon as Thurgood gets inside, he looks around, not at the servers' asses or bartenders' cleavage, but at the details, like how the floor is holding, how the air is flowing, the accustic profile, etc.

Then a pink haired catgirl asks him something.

"I guess that's the one from the invitation," Thurgood thinks, then just says "Paradiso," before getting led upstairs to a VIP booth.

"Oh, hey Dia," Thurgood says once he gets there, "happy with the club?"

John seemed to be making a habit of stopping by Sinners Den these last few days. Part of it was the lovely selection of alcohol and scantily clad waitresses; but those pleasures were mixed with a bit of business. Dia, the owner of the Den was making plenty of moves in his city, and she often asked for his assistance in her endeavors. For his part, he was glad to offer his aid. The demoness was a treat for both the eyes and the intellect; more than able to hold her own in a conversation in her own coarse manner. It was almost regrettable that she wasn't looking to indulge in any after hours fun, but he respected her opinion on the matter.

Walking through the front door, John was met by a pink-haired girl who asked him for a password. "Paradiso," was the magic word, and he was swiftly led upstairs to a booth where Thurgood and Dia both sat.

"Ah, two of my favorite people in one of my favorite bars," he said as he sat down, "To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?"

Ruby would be downstairs waiting for the both of them. Two VIPs indeed... She would beckon them to follow. "This was please, sirs" she said. Turning and showing them up the stairs. Each step up the finely laid dark mixed colors tile would clack under her heels loudly. Both shown to the booth where Dia waited.

Dia hardly ever dressed up, she went out and splurged on this fancy party dress. "Boys, boys" She said, welcoming them both. "Thurgood, club's amazing, and as you can see, the opening weekend went awesome, and business has been good the first quarter here" She said. "Ruby, honey" She beckoned the cat girl who walked over gracefully as ever. "If I remember you two are opposites, Thurgood here... doesn't partake, so bring him something minus the fun juice" She noted as Ruby wrote down this on a small not pad. "and John, I insist you try one of our signatures... ah... uh...." She snapped her fingers to jog her brain. "Get John here.... a Devils Kiss" She noted as Ruby continued to write. "And for me" She held up the menu which was framed in some kind of metal making it look and feel really fancy. It was more to show it off "Make it two Devils kisses" she said waving Ruby off. "Of course miss" Ruby bowed before heading over to the wet bar. "Boys thank you for coming, and know I'm not wasting your time." Dia said, switching the cross of her legs. "I'm interested... in how do you say... moving on, think of the future..." She said. "I'm planning to invest in some property, but not a business this time..." She said. "Well maybe an office." She noted.

Over in the little Wetbar across the room, Ruby looked mildly displeased with the order as she red her little red book Dia had made up. Something about the drinks? She'd start by taking some flavors and shaking them in a silver tin strainer, pouring them out and toping them with a strawberry, squeezing a lemon and lime, and then dropping a cherry in the glass. the rocks glass only being half full had some ice added, and then soda water, before being stirred gently, and splashed with Grenadine cherry sauce. Following that, she would pour a healthy three shots of expensive vodka into a pint glass. Then juice a chili pepper into it, a shot of grenadine, blue curaco, a small splash of sweet and sour, and the rest was sparkling water. Finally the same pepper was put on it, she'd do this twice. She'd then walk over and present Thurgood with his fruit cup. "A Fruit cup, minus the rum and vodka" She placed it before him. "And... a devils kiss" she said, planting her lips on the rim of the glass and kissing it, leaving a lipstick mark, doing the same for Dia, who was clearly eating up the prospect of owning a literal nightclub. "Enjoy gentlemen, Miss" Ruby bowed and placed a pair of notepads and pens on the table, before heading out to serve more drinks. "Isn't she adorable?" Dia asked. "saw her the other day and offered her a job." she said.

"Anyway, down... to business, Take notes" She said, gesturing the notepads. "John, I need a parcel, something level enough to not need a ton of landscaping... shit's expensive." She said. "Something elevated with a view, And Thurgood, I want you to build me a house, an estate more like." She said. "But thats not all" She said. "I need an office somewhere in town John... and Thurgood, I need help refurbishing it." She said. "Doesn't need to be big, just big enough for me, and a secretary..." She noted. "But enough about that for now, enjoy yourselves" she said. "Would either of you care for a dance from one of my dancers? she asked.

"Would either of you care for a dance from one of my dancers?"

"Nah," Thurgood replies, "I'll be thinking too much about this project to enjoy it."

Of course, Thurgood figures Dia's taste would lean far more to something like Fallingwater than Bolehyde manor: lots of straight, parallel lines, lots of large glass, contiguous windows, lots of tech, possibly a septic tank, furlongs of plumbing, miles of wiring, maybe underfloor heating and cooling.

Thurgood takes a sip of the virgin Fruit Cup, and the name is apt. "How could anybody ruin a drink like this with booze?" he thinks.

"Suit yourself" She smiles. "John?" She asked, seeing if John would like one. "So Thurgood" she said, leaning forward a tad. "I prefer something... lavish, fancy." She said. "But also classic, retro... think the 1980s..." She said. "Or better yet..." She said. "Hollywood style..." She said. "I'd love a spa, with steam room and a decent pool... and a hottub" she said. "Of course the master bedroom has to be large with a great view" she said. "I'll still keep this living space... of course." She added. "and as for the office, something contemporary... modern, comfy." She said. As she spoke, once the drinks were finished Ruby would come by and take the empty glasses. "Another round dollface" Dia smiled. "Of course miss" Ruby bowed respectfully. "I love this girl" Dia said. "Little quiet but i'll break her out of that shell..." She said. Placing a hand on her own chest. "Where I'm from catgirls usually fit one of three roles... and none of them are good." She shrugged. "Hentai character, usually sexually super charged..." She said, raising an index finger. "Fanservice anime character" She raised her middle finge, and then lowered her index, raising her ring and pinky. "Or Thunder cat" she said. "I mean Cheetara was hot and all..." She shrugged. Ruby would return, repeating the kiss from before, for both Dia and John. "Really do wanna work on makin' her more friendly" Dia chuckled as Ruby continued to work. She was an honest worker, and did exactly as told, but only to a machine like quality. There was little emotion in her actions.

"A devil's kiss?" John chuckled, "How can I refuse?"

The governor watched the exotic drink being prepared with great interest; always keen to try new and exciting combinations of alcohol. Once the drink was topped off by an actual kiss, he took glass and sipped it. It was predominantly sweet, but with just enough sour to keep it from becoming overly so. After the first sip he found himself compelled to take another, longer one before setting the glass down on the table.

"Sweet enough to make Angels weep," he declared. At the offer of a dance, he grinned, "Another temptation? This place is living up to its name. How can I say no?"

Listening to Dia attentively even as he kept his eyes on the dancer, John leaned back in his seat.

"I love a woman who knows what she wants," John flirted, "And I think I may know of just such a space."

"Excellent" Dia smiled. "Communicate with me and Thurgood. "Ruby honey." Dia said. "Show our guest here to the private dance rooms" She said. The cat nodded. "Of course" She said and gestured to John, prepped to lead him. Dia would look back to thurgood. "Well just you and little ol' me again" she said, playing with her hair. "So... I'll have john contact you... with the location and specifics, and permits" She said. "Of course you'll be paid in full prior to beginning, for good faith" she said. "Do enjoy your time here for now though" She said. Dia herself could be quite the flirt when she wanted. Normally though, she preferred solitude. "Another drink? she asked.

Oh yeah, Thurgood already got a sample run of 100 business cards from the printer for his position in the the Copper Bell Casino, the Damn Good Craft Soda Company, and some for the Comity of the Kitten Pile: the fun, lighthearted social club he and Aveline are working on.

Opening his wallet, Thurgood pulls out a card for the Copper Bell Casino, with his name and contact information, and sets it on the table in front of Dia.

"Just in case you don't already have my number," Thurgood says as he stands up, "I'm sure this place is everything somebody like John Wilder would want, but unless you have an area for plastic block building, this isn't what I find fun."

Thurgood then exits the club the same way he entered, to go back to the Copper Bell, and hopefully put the finishing touches on his Lego aluminum mill.
